Now that Thanksgiving is over, well except for the pies :), it's time for Christmas. I love Christmas!
A couple of years ago I found a lot of great ribbon for really cheap after Christmas. It's always nice to have some on hand for wrapping. A few days ago as I was working on another project, I came across the ribbon again and had a light bulb go off in my head. Why not weave them together to create a table runner. So here it is, my Christmas ribbon table runner. I love how it turned out.
To start, gather your ribbon. I used 3 different ribbons all with gold and red as the prominent colors. Two of them were 2 1/2" in width and the third was 1 1/2". I have a round table so I created a 23" x 13" runner.
Cut your ribbon into strips (6-24" for the length and 11-14" for the width).
If the ribbon has wire in it, remove the wires. Just grab hold and pull them out.
Then lay out your long strips to start the weave. To keep everything in place, I use pins and just stick them into the carpet. It works very well.
Then take your short lengths and weave them into the long lengths.
Pin them in place as you weave.
Once the weaving is complete, pin the ribbons together to hold them in place.
Sew the ribbons together using a small zigzag stitch. If you look really close, you can see the little red zigzag on the gold ribbon.
Trim any extra ribbon from the sides.
To finish the edges, attach your favorite trim. I used red rickrack.
Enjoy!
So cute! I love this idea. Your blog is awesome!
